Central Texas partners for community healthcare

Darnall Army Medical Center for a Healthcare Day tour 16 April to learn how community relationships contribute to the health and readiness of our warfighters. The Leadership Killeen Program provides participants with training and opportunities to learn about the integrated relationships that exist between healthcare services on Fort Cavazos and the local healthcare community.

CRDAMC MRBn Charlie Company holds Change of Command

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Medical Readiness Battalion, Medical Co. Charlie held a change of command ceremony in the hospital atrium April 18. The reins of leadership changed hands as Lt. Col. Jamie Culbreath received the unit guidon from outgoing commander, Capt. Alexander Deatherage and handed them to Capt. Reymoi R. Jno-Lewis.

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – Capt. Doran Lindsey assumed command of Company A, Medical Readiness Battalion, during a change of command ceremony at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center atrium April 4. Lt. Col. Jamie Culbreath, commander of the CRDAMC Medical Readiness Battalion hosted the ceremony that also bid farewell to the outgoing commander, Capt. Courtney Moore.

III Armored Corps commander visits Fort Cavazos SRU

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas –The III Armor Corps Commander, Lt. Gen. Kevin Admiral visited Fort Cavazos and the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center Soldier Recovery Unit March 21. Accompanied by III Armor Corps Command Sgt. Maj. John McDwyer, Admiral toured the organization’s Adaptive Reconditioning Program, received briefings from staff, and visited with cadre and civilian personnel who contribute to the SRU's success. He also presented coins and medals in recognition of their dedication and hard work.

The Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center welcomed Command Sgt. Maj. James Brown during an Assumption of Responsibility ceremony held March 20 in the hospital atrium. Brown previously served as the Garrison Command Sergeant Major at Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois.

Act Now, TRICARE Online Patient Portal to Be Decommissioned April 1

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – The Department of Defense has fully transitioned to MHS GENESIS, the new electronic health record system, along with its MHS GENESIS Patient Portal MHS GENESIS Patient Portal. As a result, the TRICARE Online (TOL) Patient Portal will be decommissioned on April 1. To keep a complete personal record of your medical history, you must log in to the TOL Patient Portal and download your records before April 1.

Fort Cavazos Intrepid Spirit Center highlights Brain Injury Awareness support and recovery

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – It’s time to shed light on an invisible but devastating injury that soldiers face in combat and training. Traumatic brain injury is misunderstood, often overlooked and has far reaching consequences. On March 21, the Fort Cavazos Intrepid Spirit Center will host an open house from 1-3 p.m., to tour its facilities, meet the team of experts, and learn more about the groundbreaking work they are doing to support recovery from TBI and related conditions.

Fort Cavazos Public Health teams support community during Texas measles concerns

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – The Texas Department of State and Health Services reports 259 measles cases identified since late January, as of March 14. Thirty-four of the patients have been hospitalized and the Centers for Disease and Control has reported cases in many other States. The Army Public Health Nursing team of the Fort Cavazos Department of Public Health and Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center is working hard to raise awareness to support the prevention and spread of diseases like measles and provide the Central Texas community with critical information for protection.

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – As a leading Army Medical Treatment Facility, Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center has long provided outstanding healthcare to service members, their families, and veterans. This commitment to excellence extends beyond patient care to the vital education and training of our next generation of highly skilled resident professionals in the Family Medicine Residency Program. On Feb 28, the program celebrated its 25th anniversary with a gathering of former and current program directors, graduates, faculty and residents for a day of Continuing Medical Education courses – a mix of fun activities, training and tours of the new and old hospitals.
