CRDAMC health and wellness 2023 year in review

FORT CAVAZSO, Texas – The Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center welcomed Millie Ellen Austin, weighing 8 pounds, 10 ounces and measuring 19 inches at 4:07 a.m., as the first baby of the New Year to begin 2023, and the long awaited return of the hospital’s Baby Expo and Centering Pregnancy programs highlighted the early part of the year.

CRDAMC GME gets matched with new doctors for 2024

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – The Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center Graduate Medical Education Programs, emergency medicine, family medicine, psychiatry residencies, and emergency ultrasound, and family medicine obstetrics fellowship programs, “matched” 24 doctors who will start their training at the hospital later this year in. The “GME match” is the annual Joint Graduate Medical Education Selection Board that happens every December, and it selects Medical Corps officers (physicians) to train in residency and fellowship programs across the DoD.

New Year rings in first baby of 2024 at CRDAMC

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center welcomes, Chance Lee Davis, the first baby of the new year. Baby Chance arrived at 12:30 a.m. and weighed 6 pounds, 2 ounces and 19 inches. Proud parents and veterans Douglas IV and Alexa Davis are most looking forward to companionship as a family and seeing Chance, and sister Emery almost two, grow up together and form the brother and sister bond.

CRDAMC graduates newest OB/GYN nurse specialists

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center held a graduation for seven new OB/GYN nurse specialists, or 66Gs, in a ceremony at the hospital Dec. 15. The Army first lieutenants endured a 16-week course focused on providing foundational information and skills that prepare Army Nurse Corps officers and Department of Defense civilian registered nurses to function as an advanced beginner OB/GYN staff nurse in a variety of nursing settings.

CRDAMC offers holiday safety fair, receives a visit from Shoemaker High School “Wolfpack” choir

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – The Killeen Shoemaker High School choir graced the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center with beautiful holiday songs, and the hospital’s holiday fair brought resources and information to help staff and beneficiaries coop with the stress that the season brings Dec. 8. “We are trying to address those behaves that spike due to stressors during the holiday season,” said Lisa Lerma, sexual assault and response coordinator, CRDAMC.

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – Command Sgt. Maj. Victor Laragione, senior enlisted advisor, U.S Army Medical Center of Excellence, visited Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center senior NCOs for a professional development and question-and-answer session about Army Medicine and how they can help promote better training for Soldiers at their duty stations Dec. 7.

Over 300 community members attend CRDAMCs flu vaccination event

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center Army Public Health Nursing team, hospital staff and volunteers provided 285 Tricare eligible beneficiaries their flu shot during its annual Influenza vaccination event Dec. 2.

CRDAMC lights its holiday tree for the season

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center staff and visitors gathered for its annual tree lighting ceremony Dec. 1. Col. Garrick Cramer, commander, and Command Sgt. Maj. Anthony Forker Jr. flipped the switch to light up the hospital’s 20-foot tree that was assembled by hospital staff volunteers, and Copperas Cove High School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps cadets.

Medical Readiness Battalion Charlie Company changes commanders

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – Charlie Co., Student Detachment, Medical Readiness Battalion, Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center changed commanders in a ceremony 30 Nov. Cpt. Alexander Deatherage receive the guidon from Lt. Col. Jamie Culbreath as Cpt. Tomas Mwibanda relinquishes command to move on to attend Army health education and training to obtain his doctorate degree.
