Colonel Mark Jacques, CRDAMC Commander

Colonel Mark Jacques was commissioned into the U.S. Army Medical Corps in 2004. His first assignment was with the 4th Infantry Division, serving as the 3-4 Aviation Regiment surgeon at Fort Hood, Texas. While with 3-4 Aviation, he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
 
Between 2007 and 2009, Jacques completed the joint Army-Navy residency in aerospace medicine at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida. In 2009, he was selected to serve in the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne), where he served as the training battalion surgeon and later as the regimental command surgeon at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. During his time with the 160th SOAR (A), he completed numerous combat deployments in support of both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
 
From 2014 to 2016, Jacques served as the flight surgeon for the 1st Capabilities Integration Group. In 2016, he was chosen as the first command surgeon for the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence at Fort Novosel, Alabama. Between 2019 and 2021, he completed a tour as the U.S. Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory exchange officer to the United Kingdom, serving as the director of medical research (forward to the U.K.).
 
He completed Senior Service College as a U.S. Army War College Fellow at the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health.
 
Col. Jacques assumed command of the 29th Hospital Center in July 2022, followed by his most recent assignment as command surgeon of Army Medical Command in August 2024.
 
In addition to his primary duties, Jacques has served as the medical director of the U.S. Army Air Ambulance Detachment (Flatiron) at Fort Novosel, faculty for both the Army’s aerospace and occupational medicine residency programs, medical director of the U.S. Army Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) School at Fort Novosel, and a FORSCOM Aviation Resource Management Survey (ARMS) inspector. He also served as a voting member of the Joint Trauma System Committee on En Route Combat Casualty Care.
 
His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, NATO Medal, Combat Action Badge, Expert Field Medical Badge, Master Flight Surgeon Badge, Basic Space Badge, Order of Military Medical Merit, Order of Aeromedical Merit, and the Honorable Order of St. Michael (Bronze Award).
 
Col. Jacques earned a Master of Public Health from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He is board-certified in pediatrics, aerospace, and occupational medicine. He also holds the Surgeon General’s “A” designator in aerospace medicine.

 


Command Sergeant Major James Brown, Senior Enlisted Advisor
 

Command Sgt. Maj. James E. Brown enlisted in the Army in May 2000, completing Basic Training at Ft. Benning, GA, and Advanced Individual Training at Ft. Sam Houston, TX, where he was awarded the MOS 91B, Medical Specialist.
He earned a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership and a Master’s Degree in Emergency Disaster Management, both from Trident University.

Command Sgt. Maj. Brown’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit1 (OLC), Bronze Star Medal (1OLC), Purple Heart; Meritorious Service Medal (6th Award); Army Commendation Medal (7th Award); Army Achievement Medal (7th Award); Combat Action Badge, Combat Medical Badge; Expert Field Medical Badge; Basic Parachutist Wings; Pathfinder Badge; Royal Thai Jump Wings amongst numerous awards.

Command Sgt. Maj. Brown’s military and civilian education at all levels of NCOES, Joint Medical Planners Course, Instructor Basic Course, Small Group Instructor Training Course, Basic Airborne Course, Pathfinder Course, Equal Opportunity Course, Army Retention Course and the Emergency Medical Technician Basic Course. Command Sgt. Maj. Brown is a member of the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club, Sgt. Morales Club, and the Order of Military Medical Merit.

Command Sgt. Maj. Brown is married and has five children.
