FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – Charlie Company, Medical Readiness Battalion, Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, changed senior enlisted advisors in a change of responsibility ceremony 30 Nov.
Sgt. 1st Class Kelvin Suarezcolon received the guidon from Cpt. Thomas Mwibanda, commander, began the duties as first sergeant from outgoing Master Sgt. Michael Thomas.
“Today we pass the mantle of responsibility from one respected leader to another, and it is my honor and privilege to officiate this auspicious occasion,” said Mwibanda. “Two years ago, I took command of the Cobra Company, which is a unique organization charged with the responsibility of leading, guiding, and supporting medical professionals in some form of student status to learn and successfully graduate from their programs while at the same time maintaining all their Soldiering responsibilities.”
Thomas thanked the staff and Soldiers for making their tenure together successful and wished Suarezcolon success as he signed on.
“To the Charlie company students, residnets, officers, Soldiers, and programs directors, our achievements were not individual assignments but the results of a colletive effort,” he said.
Suarez kept his comments brief and expressed that he did not take the opportunity lightly.
“I’m excited for the privilege to be your student detachment 1st Sgt.,” said Suarezcolon. “I will do everything I can to provide outstanding leadership.”
Mwibanda welcome Suarezcolon and his family to the organization as he joins it after being a drill sergeant 32nd medical recruiting battalion and CRDAMC’s education department.
“We are excited to have you in the Cobra Company and look forward to working with you and your family to make this great Company even greater, said he said. “Welcome Aboard. ARMY MEDICINE, ARMY STRONG.”
