Medication Policies and Disposal
The CRDAMC Pharmacy follows the TRICARE Uniform Formulary. This list determines which medications are available at military pharmacies, through home delivery, and at retail pharmacies.
- Formulary medications are available at no cost from CRDAMC pharmacies.
- Non-formulary medications may require prior authorization and could have a copay.
- Brand-name vs. generic: Generic medications are dispensed when available unless your provider specifies otherwise.
Tip: For the most up-to-date formulary information, visit the TRICARE Formulary Search Tool.
Non-Formulary or Special-Order Medications
Some medications may not be routinely stocked.
In these cases:
- Your provider may need to submit a medical necessity form.
- If approved, the medication will be ordered and may take extra time to arrive.
- In rare cases, the prescription may need to be filled at a retail pharmacy or through TRICARE Home Delivery.
Self-Care Program
The CRDAMC Pharmacy offers over-the-counter (OTC) medications at no cost through the Self-Care Program.
- Available to TRICARE beneficiaries ages 2 and older.
- Common items include pain relievers, allergy medications, cough and cold products, and digestive aids.
- Ask a pharmacist about eligibility and available products.
