FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – The Department of Defense has fully transitioned to MHS GENESIS, the new electronic health record system, along with its MHS GENESIS Patient Portal
MHS GENESIS Patient Portal. As a result, the TRICARE Online (TOL) Patient Portal will be decommissioned on April 1.
To keep a complete personal record of your medical history, you must log in to the TOL Patient Portal and download your records before April 1.
What This Means for You
- Loss of Access to Legacy Health Records: After April 1, you will no longer be able to access electronic health records stored in the TOL Patient Portal.
- Providers Still Have Access: Your healthcare provider will still be able to view your records for continued care.
- Download Your Records Before April 1: If you want a personal copy of your legacy electronic health records, you must download them before the TOL Patient Portal is decommissioned.
- No Impact on VA Disability Claims: The transition to MHS GENESIS will not affect your ability to file disability claims with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
- Requesting Health Records: After April 1, you can still obtain copies of your records from any military hospital or clinic.
How to Download Your Records
- Use the TOL Patient Portal Blue Button TRICARE Online Patient Portal to download your legacy electronic health records before April 1.
- Access TOL with the same DS Logon ID and password used for MHS GENESIS.
- You can only download records from the past 30 years from the date you log in.
Understanding Your Records
- TOL records reflect care received when your military hospital or clinic used the previous electronic health record system.
- MHS GENESIS records only include care documented after your facility transitioned to the new system.
- If you moved between duty stations during the transition, your records may be split between TOL and MHS GENESIS.
